The National Archives, Kew, HS 9/1421/7:

"STRANDKLEIV went to the elementary school at Godøy, where he finished in 1937. He has since then been fishing continously except for a fortnight spent at the carpentry school at Borgund just before he left. He has been fishing with the m/v. "Odin" M.87.G. which is owned by his uncle and of which his father is skipper. At present the boat is being repaired, otherwise it would probably have been taken instead of the "Fri".

At the beginning of October, 1941, STRANDKLEIV decided to come to England and informed Peter TUNHEIM that he was going to come over and intended stealing the "Odin". The "Odin", however, went to Ulsteinvik for repairs and it was then that he got in touch with Harald DYB, who informed him that they were going to take the "Fri"."
