  Sjømannen vitnet ved sjøforklaring holdt på det norske konsulat i Bordeaux den 16. februar 1917, etter at DS PROGRESO ble senket av en tysk ubåt, den 13. februar 1917. Skipet var på reise fra Barry til Boucay, (Bayonne) Frankrike med kull.
